Piedmont boys golf beats Berkeley in close match

The Piedmont High School boys golf team wrapped up its regular season with a tight win over Berkeley on April 24 at Sequoyah County Club.

The Highlanders defeated the Yellowjackets 222-225. Derek Lee was the low card for Piedmont, shooting a one-over-par 36. Charlie Wright was next with a 43. He was followed by Dillon Casey at 44. P.J. Brayer had a 48, then Jackson Van Kleeck (51) and River Bloemker (53).

The Highlanders finished the season 9-5.

On April 17, Piedmont split with Arroyo and Castro Valley at Monarch Bay Golf Club. The Highlanders shot a 213, good enough to beat the Dons (231) but short against the Trojans (204). Lee and Bodhi Bloemker tied for best for Piedmont, each shooting a 39 (+ 4). Brayer was next with a 43 followed by Van Kleeck and River Bloemker at 46. Wright shot a 47.

Piedmont next plays in the West Alameda County Conference championships on April 29 at Sequoyah Country Club. That will serve as a qualified for the North Coast Section championships on May 13.
