Plumbing tools taken valued over $15,000

A van parked on San Carlos Avenue was burglarized around 3:23 p.m. on March 20 and $15,300 worth of plumbing tools were reported taken. One suspect broke into the 2019 Ford Econoline. The suspect was in a 2021 Nissan Murano that was reported stolen in Oakland. The vehicle fled the scene and was captured on video surveillance, according to Capt. Chris Monahan of the Piedmont Police Department.

An employee of the van’s owner reported the value of the tools stolen, which include cameras as well as pressing and pipeline location equipment. The case is under investigation.


On March 15, a white 2008 Ford E250 van was stolen from the front of a driveway on La Salle Avenue. The theft occurred at 3:55 a.m. The victim reported that $8,000 to $10,000 worth of tools were inside the van, according to Monahan.


Two stolen vehicles were recovered on Pleasant Valley Road on the morning of March 17. A Piedmont police officer found a parked 2018 Chevrolet Camaro with no plates at 7:21 a.m. A check of the vehicle found it was stolen in Hercules. A 2013 Lexus ES300H was also recovered, and a check on its records showed it was stolen in Oakland.


At 2:09 p.m. on March 17, an officer found a 2014 Infiniti Q50 with no license plates parked on Park Way. The car had been reported stolen in Alameda.


On March 18, a 2017 Lexus NX300 was found parked near Piedmont and Ridgeway avenues in Oakland at 6:58 a.m. A records check showed it had been reported stolen in Marin.


On March 22, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Wildwood Avenue. The report came in at 10:53 a.m. The pedestrian was transported to Highland Hospital and no update on their condition is available. Monahan said the driver was not cited.
