Piedmont takes a pair in boys lacrosse early in season

Piedmont High School’s boys lacrosse team took a pair of matches to even its record to 2-2. On March 8, the Highlanders defeated visiting California, 7-0. Oliver Shafroth had three goals to lead Piedmont while Rylan Nelson and Connor Fredericks had two goals apiece. Curtis Hohener had two assists.

Gus Von Metzsch had nine saves in recording the shutout.

On March 7, Piedmont opened its West Alameda County Conference season with a 14-2 win at Washington-Fremont. Hohener led the way with four goals while Nelson and Fredericks each scored three. Oliver Shafroth had two goals while Von Metzsch, Cairo Osman, Ethan Alering, and Quentin Shafroth each scored one goal.

Nelson, Fredericks, Oliver Shafroth and Miles Silver each had an assist.

Piedmont jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the first quarter and was never challenged. Gabe Duenas and Johnny Briggs had the goals for Washington.

Piedmont won against Novato on March 12 and against Moreau Catholic on March 14, with both games coming in at 11-4.
