Piedmont High School’s girls lacrosse team lost a thrilling 10-9 overtime match against Acalanes on March 6 at Witter Field.

“It was back and forth all night,” Highlanders coach Carlton Chan said. “We lost in OT, but the girls learned a lot.”

Chan said the teams met last year and the Dons came out on top 15-3 with a similar team.

The game was tied 9-9 after regulation and Grace Imrie scored her third goal of the game in overtime to lift Acalanes to the victory.

Piedmont got three goals from Ruby Guzdar and two apiece from Friedie Schickedanz and Peyton Watson. Chloe Graham and Hallie Burden had one each.

Emily Roberts also scored three goals for Acalanes. Grace Colaco had two for the Dons. Addie Martin had several big saves for Acalanes.

Annika Hattan-Kutter had six saves for the Highlanders.

On March 4, Piedmont defeated Head-Royce 14-2, also at Witter Field. Burden led the way with four goals while Laurel Bentley had three. Graham and Watson had two goals each while Guzdar, Schickedanz, and Olive Litwin each had one.

Natalia Martell had both goals for Head-Royce.

Piedmont is now 2-1 on the early season. The Highlanders were next scheduled to play at home against Oakland Tech on March 7. They will be at San Rafael on March 12.
