Insights, stories and interviews about homeownership and living in the East Bay
From a Piedmont native, Emmy award-winning television journalist-turned-home matchmaker, part-time radio anchor, UCLA graduate, wife and mother of 3.

LISA:  THE WEATHER DIDN’T COOPERATE, BUT DESPITE THE RAIN & COLD, NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS BRAVED THE ELEMENTS TO EXTEND A WARM WELCOME TO MY CLIENTS IN PIEDMONT.

Darlene Jang: I’ve lived here for 28 years, and it’s a lovely neighborhood. The people here are so friendly, and it feels like a safe part of Piedmont.  Piedmont is a lovely place to live. You can call the police department, and they’ll be here in 3 minutes. It’s a nice place to walk and enjoy the dogs!

LISA:  SOMETIMES, THE POLICE WILL COME BY EVEN WHEN YOU DON’T CALL THEM JUST TO CHECK IN AND SAY HI.  ADDING TO THE WELCOMING ATMOSPHERE, OFFICER TYLER PETIT OF THE PIEDMONT POLICE DEPARTMENT STOPPED BY TO GIVE SOME VALUABLE SAFETY ADVICE TO ALL NEW PIEDMONT RESIDENTS.

Officer Tyler Petit: I highly recommend that when these people get keys from their Realtor, they change their locks.  You never know who has a key to the house.  I would also contact a security company that can come out and put sensors on doors and windows and put up some cameras for you, and talk about lighting systems a lot of new systems from Amazon have cameras and lights together. This is so important because it illuminates the neighborhood and makes it looked lived in.

LISA:  OBVIOUSLY WE’RE HERE TODAY FOR MY CLIENTS TO MEET THEIR PIEDMONT NEIGHBORS ON MANOR DRIVE, HOW IMPORTANT IS IT?

Officer Tyler Petit:  It’s so important to get to know your neighbors at the end of the day we’re just a community and we’re only as effective as our community.

LISA:  THE RESIDENTS OF MANOR SAY THEY ARE A CLOSE-KNIT STREET AND A MIX OF LONG-TIME NEIGHBORS AND NEW FAMILIES.

Karen Franchino & Sara Davison-Devries: I’ve lived here 12 years and it’s nice for my kids and it’s one of the few flat streets.  We moved in 20 years ago in April so we moved when we had 2 little kids and now we have 3 big kids and we love this street.  It’s a good trick-or-treating street.

LISA:  THE WARM NEIGHBORHOOD FEELING WAS CLEAR, EVEN THROUGH THE CLOUDS & RAIN.
