View of the field on Jan. 23

From a PUSD email on Feb. 5

PUSD will block off parking on Wildwood Ave for visiting team buses on Tuesday, Feb. 6 and Thursday, Feb. 8 for PHS soccer playoff games starting at 3 p.m. There is limited parking on Wildwood Avenue for visiting team vehicles.

Do not park in the following areas. PPD will be enforcing and will be issuing citations:

– Resident only parking spaces

– Blocking any driveway or part of a driveway

– Emergency access roads, bottom of El Cerrito & road leading to hardball field  (no stopping, waiting or drop off is allowed)

– Emergency responder access — the Witter parking lot must remain clear at all times so an ambulance can pick up an injured player or a person having a medical emergency

– Red curb or ADA designated parking

The Witter Field Sports complex has just finished extensive drainage upgrades and has installed a state of the art, synthetic turf field capable of accommodating multiple sports and end users.  We are reopening the synthetic turf to accommodate the PHS soccer playoffs, PHS LAX and track programs along with the PRD/PMS Track program . It is also the start of PHS hardball and softball programs that play on the natural grass fields.

During peak usage times 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. each there could be as many as 200 to 400 student athletes and coaches using the Witter complex. If there is a game such as the soccer playoff games next Tuesday, Feb. 6 and Thursday Feb. 8, the number of people using the Witter Sports Complex could easily double to 800+ people

The Witter Field sports complex only has 14 parking spaces. The parking lot is usually full at 3 p.m. each day.  During the soccer playoff games, PUSD will hold multiple spaces for attendees that have ADA placards.

For next week, PUSD will be placing security personnel at the top of El Cerrito Ave at Magnolia Ave.  Security will only let in residents of El Cerrito and Jerome Ave along with vehicles with ADA placards.

Bradley Smet, PHS Athletic Director will also give security a very short list of authorized people such as referees and coaching staff.

PUSD staff that have parking authority above the yellow gate, (AA parking permit) will be allowed through as well.
