Piedmont High School’s girls soccer team ran its winning streak to four matches with a pair of 4-0 victories over Alameda and Encinal.
The Highlanders are now 10-3-1 on the season, 4-3-1 in West Alameda County Conference Foothill Division play.
Piedmont has not conceded a goal in the four-match winning streak. In addition, the win over Encinal avenged a 2-1 loss to the Jets on January 16.
The Feb. 1 game was played at Estuary Park in Alameda. Miranda Liu got Piedmont off to a good start with a goal early on into the bottom right corner. Juliana Thornborrow scored to make it 2-0, which held up at halftime.
Elsa Wallway made it 3-0 with a deflected shot and Lola Biehn completed the scoring late by firing a shot over the head of the goalkeeper and into the net.
Friedie Schickedanz and Clio Salzer combined for the shutout in goal for the Highlanders.
On Jan. 30, Piedmont beat Alameda at Chabot College. Thornborrow set up Liu early on for a goal to put the Highlanders up 1-0. Wallway had the next one on a free kick she looped into the far corner. The score at halftime was 2-0.
Wallway connected again in the second half, sending in a left-footer from 25 yards out. Liu closed the scoring with a second goal of her own, this time from 30 yards out.
Piedmont next hosts Bishop O’Dowd and celebrates the senior class on Feb. 6, its first match of the year at Witter Field. The Highlanders close the regular season at Berkeley on Feb. 9.
Always good coverage! Thanks from San Ramon.
