Piedmont High School’s girls soccer team concluded its season with a 0-0 tie at Berkeley on Feb. 9, a disappointing result for both teams.
The tie meant that the Highlanders and Yellowjackets finished tied for second in West Alameda County Conference Foothill Division play with identical 5-3-2 records. Piedmont won the earlier meeting 2-0.
Castro Valley won the division championship with a 5-1-4 record. Piedmont finished the regular season 11-3-2 overall.
In the Berkeley game, it was a defensive struggle with neither team generating much offense.
The Highlanders advanced to the North Coast Section Division 3 playoffs and will open on Feb. 13 with a home game at Witter Field against Albany (12-5). Piedmont was named the No. 7 seed. The winner will advance to face the winner of the Pinole Valley-Cardinal Newman match. Cardinal Newman is the second seed.
Piedmont’s match with Albany will start at 5 p.m. and is part of a double-header with the boys team, which will face Novato at 7 p.m.
