Piedmont Education Foundation (PEF) is pleased to announce that this year’s Spring Fling season will be co-chaired by Piedmont elementary parents Marco Gonzalez-Navarro, Michael Gross, and Max Roman. Working with the PEF office and board, Gonzalez-Navarro, Gross, and Roman are excitedly planning a fantastic season of events to bring the communities of Beach, Havens, and Wildwood together while making sure all three schools have the funds needed to retain essential programs.
“Now, more than ever, parent support is needed for our elementary schools. Traditionally, Spring Fling fundraising has been able to buy back essential school programs. Last year’s Spring Fling raised enough to fund expanded counseling and lunchtime library coverage,” says Roman, “We want every parent to know there is a way to get involved and support our schools. This is our chance to ensure that essential programs are not lost.”
“Be it donating an item for the auction, organizing a parent-sponsored party, or coming to the Spring Fling Gala to bid for items. Collected funds are earmarked exclusively for our elementary schools,” said Gross.
This year’s Gala is scheduled for May 4 at Bloc 15 in Oakland and will celebrate an evening in Venice with a Carnevale di Venezia theme. “We hope parents have a fantastic time with friends and neighbors while showing how much we all support and care for Piedmont schools,” says Gonzalez-Navaro.
The weeks leading up to the big party are packed with fun events that contribute significantly to elementary school fundraising. Launching soon, the Comings & Goings Photography Project features local photographers taking candids of our Kindergarteners (Comings) and 5th Graders (Goings) as a sweet keepsake of their elementary school journey.
Parent Sponsorships are a popular way to support the elementary schools while getting some fabulous, exclusive perks. And volunteers are putting together fun theme parties such as Aloha to 5th Grade, High Chai Tea, and Spin and Sip that will happen over the next few months – all benefitting our elementary schools.
In April, look for the Spring Fling Online Auction featuring an array of fun items from local shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Sponsorships, Comings & Goings pre-orders, and more are available HERE.
Funds raised through Spring Fling sponsorships, auctions and events directly support Beach, Havens, and Wildwood elementary schools. PEF works with the tri-school principals and parents club presidents to determine where the area of greatest need intersects with parent priorities.
