After some initial rainfall on Saturday, a more impactful round of precipitation is expected across the Bay Area from Sunday through the early portion of the week, and excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday could see intermittent thunderstorms in the East Bay. Heavy rain is expected to pick up Sunday and continue through the middle of next week.

A series of weather systems will also bring strong winds this weekend, with gusts of up to 22 mph on Sunday and 24 mph Sunday evening, according to forecasters.

Daytime temperatures throughout the stormy period will hover in the low-to-mid 60s and drop to the low-to-mid 50s overnight.
