Piedmont boys soccer drops first of season to Bishop O’Dowd

Piedmont High School’s boys soccer team lost its first game of the season on Jan. 19, falling to Bishop O’Dowd, 3-1. The Highlanders fell to 7-1-1 on the season, 2-1-1 in West Alameda County Conference Foothill Division play.

Nicolai Rudolfsen had a goal and an assist to help lead the Dragons. Ian Nasif and Walter Burke each had a goal as well. Harper Mand scored off an assist from Riley Stratman in the second half for the Piedmont goal.

On Jan. 17, the Highlanders defeated San Leandro, 4-0. Jacques Saldanha had a pair of goals in the first half. Enzo Bernales sent a cross to Saldanha on the first one and Logan Faucher sent a cross to Saldanha on the second.

In the second half, Bernales took an assist from Oliver Shafroth to make it 3-0. A few minutes later, Shafroth scored his first goal of the season to make it 4-0.

Piedmont’s next scheduled game was Jan. 23 at Berkeley. The game after that is scheduled for Feb. 1 against San Leandro.
