Piedmont boys soccer beats San Lorenzo, Mt. Eden

Piedmont High School’s boys soccer team took two out of three matches and tied the third the week of Jan. 9 to move to 6-0-1 on the season.

On Jan. 9, the Highlanders got a lead on host Castro Valley before settling for a 2-2 tie. Aiden Woolwine scored in the fourth minute on a breakaway to give Piedmont a 1-0 lead. Bosco Lorin followed in the 24th minute by drawing a foul. Enzo Bernales converted the penalty kick and it was 2-0.

In the second half, the Trojans were able to level up and the game ended in a draw.

On Jan. 10, the Highlanders recorded a 3-0 win over San Lorenzo at Chabot College. Jacob Faucher scored in the 21st minute on a free kick. Bernales followed with a goal in the 46th minute. Mateo DeVries connected on a cross to Faucher with the latter capping the scoring in the 60th minute.

On Jan. 12, Piedmont defeated Mt. Eden at Chabot, 3-0. Jacques Saldanha broke the ice in the 12th minute, scoring on a cross from Faucher. Lorin then scored twice, in the 16th and 32nd minute. Bernales assisted on the first one.

Piedmont’s next matches are Jan. 17 at San Leandro and Jan. 19 at first place Bishop O’Dowd.
