The Piedmont High School boys basketball team is on a bit of a hot streak, having won four of its last five games.

“We’re good,” coach Ben Spencer said. “We’re finding our groove. Starting to solidify a really solid identity. Defend and rebound, and then go inside to Brit (Burden) on offense.”

Brit Burden (23) and Thorin Holmes (20)

Burden has taken on a big share of the offensive load, getting 29 points in a 66-55 win at home against Berkeley on January 6. He also pulled down seven rebounds in that game. Dillon Casey added 22 points. Samir O’Brien had 14 points for Berkeley.

On Jan. 10, the Highlanders fell at Alameda, 58-38. The score was 23-20 at halftime.

“We shot poorly in the second half and they were lights out in third and fourth quarter,” Spencer said.

Burden had 16 points and four rebounds while Dillon had 12 points. Jackson Yep had 21 points for the Hornets and Jesse Kim had 12.

Declan Linnane (33) and Dillon Casey (12)
