Giving Campaign raises $3.4 million for Piedmont schools

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Parents Win Class Competition

This year, Piedmont Education Foundation’s Giving Campaign resulted in donations of $3.4 million from 1,164 households in support of Piedmont schools. The number of donors, and the total amount donated, increased from last year. According to PEF Board Chair Tonya Antonucci, “This increase is a tremendous accomplishment. PUSD enrollment has declined, but we’re seeing both a higher rate of community participation and an increase in the dollar amounts donated.” Antonucci credits the leadership of Co-Chairs Kim Hunter and Catie Osborn for the campaign’s success.

The PEF board and Giving Campaign committee, the PUSD School Board, and the boards of Havens and PMS parents clubs all achieved 100% parent participation in the campaign. Overall 66% of PUSD parents made a contribution this year, compared with 62% last year. Winning the class level competition was transitional kindergarten (TK) with 83% parent participation. Of the six schools, Havens came out ahead with 82% participation with Havens’ Kindergarten parents leading at 92% participation. A party to celebrate TK families is being planned for early spring.

Says Co-Chair Kim Hunter, “We thank everyone who contributed. This has been a lot of work and a lot of fun, and seeing the community come together for something this important is so rewarding. ” Adds Catie Osborn, “It has made me realize how important each individual is when making sure our schools succeed. And how much more we have to do. There’s a lot of work still to be done at the national, state and local levels.” “That’s why we’re both stepping up again to chair next year’s Giving Campaign,” said Hunter. “We know we can count on everyone to help us out again.”

Funds raised through the Giving Campaign will be granted to PUSD for use during the 2024-25 school year. For more information on the grant process and this year’s grant distribution, visit PiedmontEdFoundation.org/Our-Impact.
