Student-run nonprofit and UCSF Benioff Oakland join forces to help families

Although some of us are very lucky to be able to celebrate the holiday season with gifts and festive meals, many don’t get these same pleasures. More Than Just Me is a student-run organization created with the goal of helping kids have a happy and festive winter holiday season even with the strain put on their families by illness and medical bills.

We are so lucky because the hospital social workers have agreed to let us continue our wonderful adopt-a-family system that makes donating beneficial to the recipients and fun for the donors. For those who choose to adopt a family, the social workers are asking for gift cards. Specific items such as new jackets, new toys, diapers, etc will also be accepted in their gift drive. Please see below for gift-giving details.

Deadline: Dec. 8

To donate, please send an email to Morethanjustme.org@gmail.com with the following information:

  • Your full name
  • Your email
  • Your preferred method of donating (adopt-a-family with card donations or items for the gift drive)
    • If adopting, the preferred size of family- small, medium, or large
    • If giving gifts, anticipated items
    • Please advise if your plan is to drop off at one of our many donation sites — or if you prefer that we pick up your items.

As always thank you so much for donating and we hope we can help many people brighten their holidays this year!
