Announcing the 2023 Piedmont Turkey Trot Book Drive for Piedmont Unified School District (PUSD) Libraries and Community Organizations
The Piedmont High School (PHS) Book Advocacy Club will host a book drive at the Piedmont Turkey Trot Pre-Race Packet Pick-Up on Wednesday, November 22 from 3 – 6 p.m. in the Veterans Hall at 400 Highland Avenue, Piedmont.
PHS and Millennium High School student and parent volunteers will collect gently used books for donation to PUSD schools, East Bay Children’s Book Project, East Bay Advocacy for Children (EBAC), The Bookmark Bookstore (owned and operated by Friends of the Oakland Public Library), and Oakland Public Library.
Criteria for Book Donations
For the Ambassador Christopher Stevens Memorial Library at PHS
Books should be appropriate for high school students (13-18 years). New or gently used. Hardcovers must have dust jackets and have an original publication date no earlier than 2019 (with the exception of classics). See our Amazon Registry to gift books directly. Books may also be donated during school hours in the PHS Main Office at 800 Magnolia Ave., Piedmont.
For All Other Books
Books should be clean, gently used, no marks, stains, etc. Recent publications are preferred. Books may also be donated during school hours at Piedmont Middle School Library, 740 Magnolia Ave., Piedmont. Books for middle school students will be offered on the free shelf. Graphic novels are especially in high demand. Books for younger children and adults can be deposited in the donation box for East Bay Agency for Children (EBAC) inside the library.
Monetary Donations
Online donations may be made on the Infinite Campus School Store by parents of any PUSD student. Checks may be made out to PUSD with a memo “For Library Books for ___________(specify which PUSD school).” Checks may be mailed to 760 Magnolia Avenue, Piedmont, CA 94611.
