The Blotter | Found in stolen Hyundai Tucson, two suspects taken to Santa Rita jail

Two people were taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin when they were found in a stolen 2016 Hyundai Tucson on Sept. 18. The incident happened at 6:29 a.m. on Fairmount Avenue.

A Piedmont Police officer located the stolen car and found two individuals in it. The male suspect was found to have multiple felony warrants and was on probation for possession of a stolen vehicle, according to Piedmont Police Capt. Chris Monahan. He said the female suspect was also on probation for possession of a stolen vehicle and had a warrant for the same offense. A search of the female suspect produced the key to the Hyundai as well as alleged narcotics, according to Monahan.


Piedmont police assisted in the recovery of two stolen vehicles on Sept. 19. The report was on MacArthur Boulevard. The two vehicles were found unoccupied and towed.


Also on Sept. 19, a woman was found in a park on Highland Avenue sleeping under a blanket. She was found to have warrants for disobeying a court order, assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism, and assault.


Nearby: In a social media post at 8:45 p.m. on Sept. 26, the Oakland Fire Department reported that 20 firefighters responded to a fire at the Rotary Nature Center on Bellevue Ave off Lake Merritt. It said that crews “successfully contained the fire to approximately 10-15% of the exterior wall and roof area. The fire was under control as of 7:45 and the cause is under investigation.”
