Piedmont Beer Festival brings a mix of brewers, brats, music and more

On Friday Oct. 6, the 11th Annual Piedmont Beer Festival takes over 801 Magnolia Ave. for a beer tasting and German Oktoberfest meal. Craft brewers inside and out of Piedmont are invited to present their favorite creations to share at the lively event.

Piedmont Grocery owner Dave Larson returns to provide a traditional German Oktoberfest meal of grilled Bratwursts, red cabbage and potato salad which can be enjoyed on the lawn of the Center for the Arts..

Accompanying your meal will be live jazz performed by Piedmont High musicians Will Kennedy, Alden Meil and Ryan St John.

Chad Olcott, owner Mulberry’s Market will serve as awards ceremony emcee. Celebrity judges will award prizes for: Best Pale Ale • Best Lager • Best Porter • Best in Show.

This year’s judges are Piedmont Chief of Police Jeremy Bowers, Piedmont Community Church Student Pastor Scott Kail, Piedmont Grocery owner Dave Larson, and Piedmont City Recreation Director Chelle Putzer.

Brewers already registered include:

  • Piedmont’s own brewers: Zachary Jones, Matt Gerhardt, and Carter Dunlap
  • Defending Winner: Kyle Blomseth 2022 Autumnal Rye and Bill Marzen Lager
  • Defending Best Pale Ale: 2022 Matt Gerhardt
  • Defending Winners from: The Bay Area Mashers Club
