The PUSD Wellness Center’s first annual Week of Wellness will run from Sept. 20 – 27. During the Week of Wellness, supporters who purchase an event ticket or sponsorship have access to events ranging from fitness classes at local studios to walks and outdoor activities led by Piedmont parents. The Week of Wellness is the center’s largest annual fundraiser and helps ensure that Piedmont students continue to receive the mental health support they need.
The Wellness Center is a vital resource for Piedmont’s high school and middle school community. Counselors at the center help students manage common emotional and social challenges, including stress, depression, grief, conflicts, and substance use concerns. Approximately one-third of high school and one-quarter of middle school students receive counseling at the Wellness Center each year. During the 2022-2023 school year, the Wellness Center provided over 2,000 therapy sessions to Piedmont students.
To raise the funds the PUSD Wellness Center needs to continue providing this level of support to students, the parent-run Wellness Center Support Committee is partnering with local fitness facilities and parents to create a special week of health and wellness activities. Events during the Week of Wellness will range from fitness classes like yoga, spin, and Zumba to outdoor activities led by Piedmont parents.
Tickets for the Week of Wellness are $100; all proceeds go to funding the stipends of Wellness Center counselors and other center needs. Family sponsorships are available, and sponsors at the level of $500 or above will also be invited to the celebration of the Wellness Center’s 15th anniversary in September at a private home in Piedmont.
