2023 Harvest Festival edibles contest winners

Juliana DeYoung won 1st place in the squash competition, and three sisters came in third: Alexandra, Anastasia, and Ekaterina (not pictured) Lindgardt

Harvest Festival event organizers said they received 139 entries for the annual edibles contest held on Sept. 24. Participants dropped off their entries by 10 a.m. on the morning of Sept. 24 and judges — community members, city staff, local elected officials — spent the morning tasting and assessing the range of homegrown or homemade entries.

Jovie Strzelecki won the Bill Drum Award for most blue ribbons and the Sweepstakes Award for most categories entered. She received a $60 Ace Hardware gift certificate and a $40 Village Market gift certificate.

Volunteers Lilla Wells, Alex Slatoff, Greg Slatoff, Carolyn George and Susan Hill (one of the event’s original founders) made the annual event possible.
