Interior design trends are always changing and people are always looking to elevate and update their homes. Bea Martinez and Hailey Johnson from Studio 415 Interiors shared with me the latest trends in home design.

TELL ME ABOUT STUDIO 415

Bea & Hailey:  Studio 415 was born during COVID.  Bea is an architect and Hailey is an interior designer.  We realized while working at another firm that we really work well together.  We have been in interior design and architecture for a combined 35 years.  We’ve both worked in residential, corporate and hospitality interiors and can manage anything from your permit process to selecting furniture, accessories, and art throughout your home.

KITCHEN TRENDS: ISLANDS

Bea:  The kitchen is the heart of the home.  People are still wanting to integrate their kitchen with the rest of the spaces.   People still want to see islands.  The island is almost the heart of the actual kitchen where everything sort of works around.

KITCHENS TRENDS: WOOD TONES

Bea:  Another trend we are seeing is more natural wood tones.  Sometimes you can see the veining of the wood.  We see a combination of lower wood tones and paint colors on top.

KITCHENS COUNTERTOPS & CABINETS

Bea:  When it comes to countertops, these days, nobody wants to deal with maintenance. Quartz is still a great option.  Another trend, nobody wants to see their small appliances.  So, there are solutions now where you can conceal that

BATHROOMS UPDATES

Hailey:  I highly recommend you heat your floors and your interior shower benches.  You can also add power to the back of your drawers so that your toothbrush and your razor can always be plugged in and tucked away and off of the countertop.

Another tip: when you’re selecting your vanity mirrors, check out a medicine cabinet that can be completely inset into the wall.

WALL COVERINGS

Hailey:  Wallpaper can really elevate a space.  The way that we see wall coverings is that it is art.   So you can really play with wall coverings. You can do something very graphic, or you can do something very serene and calming

FRESH PAINT

Bea:  A fresh coat of paint can always make a huge difference.   Warm neutrals for your living, dining room and kitchen.  For bright colors, we like to use it with more intention, like if we want to create some drama.  Trend wise is still the gray tones and you can either be cool or warm, so you can go into more greens, blues.  Not so many reds, oranges, yellows.
