“Early this morning, Officer Singh made a traffic stop in the area of Grand Avenue/Boulevard Way. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a loaded Springfield XD-9 handgun, 32 grams of methamphetamines, cocaine, oxycodone and burglary tools. The suspect was arrested without incident and booked at Santa Rita Jail.”

Six stolen vehicles were recovered in Piedmont in the past week. The vehicles had mostly been stolen in the Bay Area, but one of them came from Roseville.

That car was a 2004 navy blue Porsche Cayenne was wanted in connection with someone evading police in Roseville. It was found in the Ace Hardware parking lot on Grand Avenue on April 24 at 10:54 a.m. Roseville police asked for the occupant to be identified and released and the vehicle to be impounded, according to Piedmont Police Capt. Chris Monahan.


A 2015 Kia Optima stolen from San Leandro was found the morning of April 22 on MacArthur Boulevard. The vehicle was damaged but not stripped and had both plates, according to the police log. It was towed and a message was left for the registered owner.


Also on the morning of April 22, a 1995 Chevrolet Blazer also stolen from San Leandro was found on Monterey Boulevard. Again, it was damaged but not stripped and had both plates according to the police log. It was also towed and a message left for the registered owner.


Later on April 22, an unoccupied 2018 Kia Soul was found on Santa Clara Avenue. The vehicle had a damaged ignition and a broke window, but was not stripped and had both plates according to the log. The vehicle was towed and an attempt to notify the registered owner went to voicemail and the mailbox was full. The vehicle was stolen in Oakland.


A 2016 Hyundai Elantra stolen in Berkeley was found unoccupied on Santa Clara Avenue at 2:33 p.m. The vehicle was damaged but not stripped, according to the log, and the front license plate was inside the vehicle. The vehicle was towed.


On April 24, a 2015 Hyundai Sonata was found in front of Safeway at 3:30 p.m. A male with a blue T-shirt, red bandanna and gray beanie, a potential suspect per the police log, was seen leaving on foot up Weldon Avenue. He was not found. The vehicle had damage to the exterior and the ignition, was not stripped and was missing its license plates, according to the police log. The vehicle was towed and a message was left for the registered owner.


On April 27, a 1991 Nissan Stanza EX was stolen in Piedmont on Wildwood Avenue around 6 a.m. The owner reported the theft at 10 p.m.


A vehicle hit two parked cars on April 21 on Oakland Avenue with a report of the crash coming in at 11:32 a.m. The driver reported pain but had no visible injuries, according to Monahan. One of the vehicles was towed.
