The PUSD Board of Education on Wednesday night appointed Piedmont High School Assistant Principal Irma Muñoz to serve as Millennium High School’s next principal. Muñoz will replace Shannon Fierro, who will be teaching Spanish at Piedmont Middle School next year.

Muñoz has spent the last eight years in Piedmont. Trustees and supporters lauded Muñoz for her compassion, institutional knowledge, and understanding the multi-layered needs of students.

Muñoz previously worked as assistant principal at San Leandro High School and at Mills High School in Millbrae. She taught Spanish and English language development before becoming an administrator. Muñoz holds master’s degrees in education from UC Berkeley and Stanford and received her undergraduate degree from UC Davis.

Millennium High School (MHS) is PUSD’s alternative high school that serves students with diverse learning styles, proficiency levels, and personal needs. Students at MHS complete the same graduation requirements as students at Piedmont High School and the curriculum is aligned with Content Standards for California Public Schools.
