Piedmont Dragons win the PBSF 2023 Piedmont Pony City Championship

The Piedmont Dragons (3-3) defeated the Piedmont Spartans (5-1) by a score of 11-4 on April 2 at PHS Humphries Field to take home the 2023 PBSF Piedmont Pony City title.

After falling behind by two runs in the first inning, the Dragons secured the victory thanks to six runs in the second inning. Mateo Quintero and Milo Chipman contributed with RBIs. Quintero singled on the first pitch of his at bat, scoring one run, and Chipman singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Both teams were held scoreless between the third and sixth innings before the Dragons added five more runs in the seventh. Quintero lined a single to center field scoring two runs, and ended the day two for three with three RBIs.

Derek Lee was the winning pitcher for the Dragons, pitching a complete game. Lee allowed nine hits, striking out four and walking two over his seven innings.
