Piedmont High School’s boys volleyball team defeated visiting Alameda on April 20, 25-21, 26-24, 26-24. The victory avenged a tough loss at Alameda on April 4 when the Highlanders fell in five sets.

Piedmont is now 12-5 on the year.

“What an amazing game,” Highlander coach Mariah Cardenas said. “The boys definitely started the match like they had something to prove; which we honestly did. After losing to Alameda a few weeks ago, we needed a strong game plan coming in today, and the boys stuck to it. We practiced several of the scenarios we were in tonight during the past three days at practice. I’m so proud of them for playing hard and never letting down.”

Statistics were not provided to the Exedra. Cardenas said Owen Kelly had an “amazing” match, along with Brayden Day and John Champion.

“James MaNguyen did what he does best and that is being the most aggressive offensive player we have,” Cardenas said. “I can fully trust that when James is in, we will be successful.”
