The Blotter | (Haunted?) house break-in on Sea View

A man broke into a house on Sea View Avenue on Dec. 30. He was arrested and told Piedmont Police that he had read on Google that the house was haunted.

The report came in at 8:35 a.m. The resident, along with their brother, heard a voice inside and found the suspect inside. Police came and arrested the man. Nothing was reported stolen. The man was taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.


On Dec. 26, a parked red Toyota Prius with no plates was found on Boulevard Way at 7:47 p.m. The driver was found to have no warrants. However, a search of his person and the vehicle turned up a Sawzall and blades, jack, head mounted light, a license plate belonging to another vehicle, a shaved key and drug paraphernalia, according to Piedmont Police Capt. Chris Monahan. The suspect was cited and released for possession of burglary tools, possession of narcotic paraphernalia and false plates for the vehicle.


A resident on St. James Drive reported someone ringing his doorbell on Dec. 26 at 2:50 a.m. Police arrived and detained one person who was found to have a warrant for DUI in Oakland. He was taken to Santa Rita Jail.
