PCSC to host community service project on Jan. 22

PCSC crew members prepare a meal for seniors at St. Mary's Center.

Join Piedmont Community Service Crew (PCSC), and participate in a community-wide service project to celebrate and honor MLK Day. We’re collaborating with the Piedmont Anti-Discrimination Committee (PADC) and Rebuilding Together Oakland, and tapping into our organizations’ strengths to make a small impact, together.

On January 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., we plan to repaint the fence bordering St Mary’s Center, an organization in Oakland that provides services to the elderly and preschool kids. PCSC has worked for over 10 consecutive years to provide meals to low income seniors and improvements to their preschool and is looking forward to help them in another area.

PCSC has been an annual sponsor for Rebuilding Together Oakland for over 17 years. Our teen crew members have planned and executed full home renovation projects and gained thorough building expertise. PCSC, a youth-run organization under the umbrella of Piedmont Council BSA’s Venturing program, is proud to host this event and will provide lunch for our volunteers. This service project is another great opportunity for any youth interested in learning skills or giving back on honor of MLK.

Events like these are a great example of PCSC’s dynamic programming, and will be a great preview for our wider community to join our membership, which includes Piedmont Service Club for middle school aged youth and their parents. Likewise, community adults are encouraged to also engage with us; meet other like-minded adults, and take the opportunity to mentor the youth membership. Please note: All over the age of 11 yrs are invited, but from ages 11 yrs to 14 yrs must come with an adult responsible for guiding that younger youth.

Please note: Plan to arrive 15 minutes early. Parking is very limited, so try to carpool!

If interested, please fill out the required pre registration using this form and sign up by Wednesday, Jan 18.
