The Alameda County Women’s Hall of Fame is encouraging nominations to celebrate women making a difference in the community.
New entries into the Hall of Fame had been paused since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but nominations are now being accepted through Jan. 20 for the 2023 version of the awards, which were created in 1993 by County Administrator Susan Muranishi, who still serves in that position.
The Alameda County Women’s Hall of Fame will honor women in 13 categories — business and professions; community service; culture and art; education; emerging leader; environment; health; justice; non-traditional careers; philanthropy; science, technology and engineering; sports and athletics; and youth for 11th and 12th graders.
Nominations will be evaluated by a panel of judges next month, and selected inductees will be honored at a luncheon and award ceremony on March 25 at the Ascension Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Oakland.
