Piedmont Swim Team’s Simon Lins, a senior at Piedmont High School, placed 4th in the 100 Fly at Junior Nationals West over the weekend in Austin, TX.

Junior Nationals featured the fastest 18 & Under swimmers in the country, including multiple Olympians, competing at two sites (East and West) from Dec. 7 through Dec. 10.

Simon advanced to the Championships Final (top 8) in the 100 Fly after a sensational prelim swim, dropping almost one second from his previous personal best time. The final itself was a nail-biter with Simon being third after the first 50 and finishing just outside the top 3 at the 100 yard mark. He managed to drop an additional 0.6 seconds from his prelim swim, which currently ranks him as the 4th fastest 100 fly swimmer for 18-year-olds in the country.

Additionally, Simon placed 9th in the 100 backstroke, 15th in the 100 freestyle and 18th in the 50 freestyle. An outstanding result for Simon who has been working diligently to evolve his swimming to the next level over the past several years.

His time in the 100 fly has qualified Simon for Summer Senior Nationals, a competition usually reserved for collegiate swimmers trying to make the US national team.
