The Cancer League recognizes Holly Ball sponsors at cocktail reception on Nov. 9

Members of The Cancer League, Inc. gathered to thank and honor major donors to the upcoming annual black tie event, Holly Ball. Organized by Cancer League member Melissa Partovi, the night kicked off with an intimate cocktail reception at the beautiful home and newly landscaped garden of Sarah and Bill Cumbelich. Libations and catered hors d’oeuvres were served by chef Graham Gathright of Sel et Beurre.

Lisa Settlemier, The Cancer League’s current president, along with Brooke Wall and Rebecca Haywood, the 2022 Holly Ball chairs, welcomed donors and thanked them for their tremendous generosity.

“We are so grateful for the generous support of our donors, who make our work of funding seed research in the fight against cancer possible,” said Settlemier at the event. This year’s benefactors include John Muir Health/UCSF, J.P. Morgan Private Bank, The David & Susan Martin Foundation, Rebecca and John Carlo Haywood, Gary Kovacs and KIA of Oakland.

The sponsor party was a prelude to the Cancer League’s signature gala, the Holly Ball, slated for 6:00 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 2 at Claremont Country Club. Co-chaired by Brook Wall and Rebecca Haywood, the 49th annual Holly Ball event promises to be a fun-filled extravaganza, transporting guests to an enchanting evening in the Scottish Highlands.

One hundred percent of proceeds raised at the event go to funding groundbreaking cancer research at its earliest stages.
