Letter to the Editor | Why Lindsay Thomasson belongs on the School Board

I encourage Piedmont residents to vote for Lindsay Thomasson for PUSD School Board. I met Lindsay five years ago when she had just moved into town. I was organizing parent parties for Spring Fling and a mutual friend connected us. Since the moment she agreed to host a party five years ago, we have volunteered together in various roles on the board of Havens Parent Club (HPC), including Lindsay’s tenure as President. Most recently, Lindsay and I ran the Traffic Committee to address unsafe driving during student drop-off and pick-up at Havens.

When Lindsay decided to run for School Board, she asked me to be her campaign treasurer. I agreed to join her campaign for three reasons: (1) I can’t imagine a more qualified person; Lindsay has volunteered in a variety of positions in PUSD schools throughout district levels, (2) she is incredibly dedicated, hard working and thorough, and (3) Lindsay is one of the warmest and kindest people that I know. She establishes strong friendships and working relationships.

Lindsay has the experience and this means she will hit the ground running. In addition to her role as HPC President, she was the parent representative for the Local Control Accountability Plan and Superintendent Community Advisory Committees. She just recently co-lead the Wellness Center Support Committee. She knows how the district operates and already has working relationships with many of the individuals in the district.

When volunteering with Lindsay, I have seen her in action. If she sees something not working, she thoroughly investigates, asks thoughtful questions, and makes sure she understands the entire situation before she proceeds. She is creative and insightful. Lindsay is the kind of person that I want to follow when she leads not only because she is right there with me working, but also because she plans efficiently and works to constantly improve.

Lindsay is extremely thoughtful, fair, and moral. She is genuine and I trust her implicitly. Lindsay easily makes friends and establishes strong working relationships. She is transparent, no hidden agendas. Lindsay is also very collaborative; she wants to understand everyone’s opinions and work together to find a solution.

I am so proud to be her friend and the treasurer of the Lindsay Thomasson for PUSD School Board campaign. I encourage you to vote for Lindsay.
