Letter to the Editor | Re-elect Betsy Andersen, a committed community leader

Our Piedmont government works best when someone of Betsy Andersen’s even temperament and reasoned thinking is committed to doing the public good. We have important decisions on the horizon: accommodating housing mandates while maintaining community character, funding costly infrastructure upgrades to ensure ongoing public safety, guiding the aquatics center to completion, and achieving climate goals while supporting Piedmont’s expectations for education, recreation, security, comfort and happiness. Of parallel importance, all of our achievements must be founded within a framework of rigorous fiscal planning and management. Betsy is a proven leader with a decades long track record of successful participation on every issue important to Piedmonters.

Betsy values Piedmont’s sense of community and takes decisive action to turn community interests into good public policy.  She is one of the committed community leaders behind the passage of Measure UU, which now allows Piedmont to create a beautiful new community aquatic center serving Piedmonters of all ages, abilities and interests.

In times of controversy, being a leader in a small town is humbling. The topic of state housing mandates is especially challenging. Betsy provides a welcome sense of calm, steady, informed leadership on this complicated, divisive topic. As a native daughter of Piedmont, Betsy holds a historical perspective of what makes Piedmont the unique family-centered community that inspired the rest of us to make Piedmont our home. She is a fierce advocate for Piedmont, committed to maintaining the unique, small town nurturing community we all value.

It’s time to re-elect Betsy Andersen!
