All registered voters were sent a vote-by-mail ballot for the November 8 election the week of October 10. Any voter who did not receive their ballot by mail should contact the Alameda County Registrar of Voters at (510) 272-6933.
Voting by Mail or Drop Box
Ballots mailed through the post office must be postmarked by November 8.
Voters can also submit ballots 24 hours a day at the secure ballot drop box located near the mailboxes at Highland Way and Highland Avenue in Piedmont, or at any of 65 other official Registrar of Voters ballot drop boxes across Alameda County.
The Registrar of Voters picks up ballots from the drop boxes every day. The last pickup will be 8 pm on Tuesday, November 8. Postage is not required for ballots submitted at the drop box.
Vote Center at Veterans Memorial Building
Those who prefer to vote in person can do so at any of 100 vote centers across Alameda County.
In Piedmont, the Veterans Memorial Building at 401 Highland Avenue will serve as a vote center.
Vote centers will be open:
• Saturday, November 5 – Monday, November 7 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
• Tuesday, November 8: 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.
A small subset of vote centers will be open for a full eleven days before the election, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily starting October 29. The nearest eleven-day vote center to Piedmont is at Oakland Technical High School (4351 Broadway).
A complete list of vote centers is available on the Alameda County Registrar of Voters website HERE.
Conditional (“Same Day”) Voter Registration
The last day to register to vote for the November 8 election was Monday, October 24.
Residents who missed the deadline can still vote provisionally by registering and voting at a vote center or at the Alameda County Registrar of Voters office (1225 Fallon Street, Oakland) through election day. Ballots of voters who registered after the October 24 deadline will be processed and counted after the Registrar of Voters has verified their registration. This process takes time, so these ballots may not be included in the results reported on election night.
