Alameda County Emergency Preparedness Day is this Saturday

Supervisor Carson to Host Alameda County Emergency Preparedness Day

(Oakland, CA) – On Saturday, October 22, 2022, Alameda County Board of Supervisors President Keith Carson (District 5) will host Alameda County Emergency Preparedness Day at Chabot Elementary School, 6686 Chabot Road, Oakland, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. This is the fourth time Supervisor Carson has hosted this event and the first one since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The day will kick off with remarks by Supervisor Carson and Keynote Speaker Joe Grupalo from ZoneHaven. Several workshops will be presented on topics including how to stop bleeding, fire extinguisher training, community planning, and using every-day items for emergency preparedness. Presenters include:. Alameda County Fire Department, Falck, Listos California, and Eden I&R, Inc. There will also be a resource fair with local organizations and agencies tabling throughout the day. The first 300 families will receive a FREE emergency kit!

The ongoing pandemic has taught us all that we need to be prepared to act and do all we can to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and our community when the unexpected happens. Although we may not know when the next crisis will occur — whether it be earthquake, wildfire, or flood — we know there are things we can do right now to make sure we remain safe and healthy.
