Residents in town and nearby cities felt the sharp jolt caused by a 2.9 quake around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night, Sept. 11. According to USGS, the quake was centered six miles deep near Lake Temescal. On Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 6:39 p.m., a 4.4 and a 3.9 earthquake hit Santa Rosa almost simultaneously, with people reporting shaking north of the city and all the way down to San Francisco, according to social media and USGS “Did you feel it” reports.
