A man was found attempting to tow an SUV in Piedmont on August 21. A search found $800 in counterfeit U.S. currency, according to Piedmont Police Department Captain Chris Monahan. His vehicle was found to have 470 grams of marijuana, the Captain said.
The incident was reported at 3:42 p.m. on Moraga Avenue. A Piedmont resident said that a suspicious male adult was under a parked gold GMC SUV. Officers arrived and found the suspect. A record check found the man was on probation for possession of a firearm. The suspect was searched, and officers found the counterfeit currency, according to Captain Monahan.
The man told officers he “came to Piedmont to tow the GMC,” said Captain Monahan. The man said he believed the vehicle was abandoned. The man was driving a Toyota pickup truck with a 13-15-foot trailer attached.
The Toyota had been reported stolen out of Oakland and the marijuana was found in the vehicle.
The man was arrested and taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.
On August 24, a home was reported to be burglarized between the hours of 1 – 2 p.m. According to Captain Monahan, an unknown suspect entered the home on Woodland Way through an unlocked front door. The upper bedrooms were “ransacked” and an unknown amount of jewelry was taken. The value of the jewelry is also unknown.
