NEW BUSINESS COMING TO ROCKRIDGE
In the heart of Rockridge at 5914 College Ave. is a brand new women’s clothing store called Market. Jen Rego is the owner.
WHAT LED TO THE OPENING OF MARKET?
After the Covid pandemic, Jen said she started trying to figure out what was next. She realized she likes to shop, she likes design, fashion and how clothes make her feel but there weren’t many retail shops in Rockridge. So, after thinking about it for a long time and as space became available she thought this is the time for her to do something different and fill two needs. A personal and a community/business one.
WHAT BRANDS WILL BE FEATURED?
Jen has been traveling to LA and New York searching for brands to sell in her shop. She’s starting with selecting brands that she likes. Brands she wears, follows and sees at markets in LA and New York.
HIGH FASHION? OR A MIX?
So what will the price point be at Market? Jen says she loves a good mix of high/low fashion. For example, a beautiful dress paired with affordable shoes to wear with it. She wants everyone to feel good about their experience when they walk in the door and doesn’t want everything to be financially out of reach. She says there will be something for everybody.
ONLINE? OR IN PERSON ONLY?
Lucky for shoppers outside of the Bay Area, Market clothes will be sold online too. Although, there’s nothing like an in person shopping experience! Jen loves talking to people and since there aren’t a lot of retail stores in the area there should be a good amount of foot traffic. However, Jen has worked in web based businesses her whole professional career so there will be a strong online presence too.
MARKET EXPERIENCE
Jen has been working hard getting her store ready. She says if someone gives her their time and comes into her store she wants them to feel respected. She wants everybody to love what they buy here and not have buyers remorse or purchase an item that sits in their closet.
OPENING DAY IS ALMOST HERE. HOW IS SHE FEELING?
Excited! Jen says this was a big financial commitment for her family but it feels good. She says it feels like she’s on a great path and she feels lucky and grateful to be doing this.
