Two elected officials are hosting a coffee on June 14 at 9:30 a.m. for any Piedmont resident considering running for a spot on the Board of Education or City Council.
During the November 2022 election cycle, the School Board will have two openings, as Trustee Amal Smith will be termed out and Trustee Megan Pillsbury is not running for reelection. The City Council will have three openings as Mayor Teddy Gray King will be termed out, Councilmember Betsy Andersen will be up for reelection and appointed Councilmember Jennifer Long will be up for election.
In an email shared with the community this week, Vice Mayor Jen Cavenaugh and School Board Trustee Megan Pillsbury wrote:
Are you an active community leader with vast talents you would love to put to work to make our community and schools a better place to learn, live and grow? Have you ever considered running for public office but don’t know where to start?
Whether you’ve always dreamed of running for office or thought that would never be you, there’s a place and a path for everyone. Our city and schools need you! And we’re here to show you how and to support you on your journey.
RSVP to Jen Cavenaugh (jcavenaugh3@gmail.com) for location details or to contact Cavenaugh if you can’t attend the meeting but would like to learn more.
