Tracking COVID in Piedmont | Apr. 19

Fourteen new COVID cases were reported in town since last week, according to the Alameda County Health Department’s COVID-19 dashboard. COVID case counts in Piedmont on Tuesday stood at 891, up from 877 one week ago.

The Exedra will continue to report weekly cases from the county. Hospitalizations remain very low.

School cases won’t be reported on the PUSD dashboard until April 25.

On Tuesday, Peter Chin-Hong, an infectious disease specialist at UCSF told the San Francisco Chronicle in an interview ( Does it feel like everyone has COVID? Why some experts say S.F. is in a surge now even though cases are low) that official case counts aren’t a true reflection of how COVID is moving through the community right now.

“The numbers are off right now, and probably more off than they were in the past,” he said. “Have your wits about you, be responsible, be careful, because the official numbers may not be the truth of the actual risk.”
