Rec. Department hosts inaugural ‘Play Like A Girl+’ event on May 15

May 15 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. | Witter Field | FREE

This free event is a fun, interactive day of getting girls ages 2-18 excited to try out new sports. Athletes and coaches from approximately 20 different sports organizations will be offering hands-on activities so girls in our community can practice pitching, rowing, hitting, shooting baskets, and so much more.

Girls who play sports have better standardized test results than non-athletes and female athletes go on to earn 7% higher annual wages than their non-athlete peers. Sports also help boost self-esteem – our goal with the Play Like a Girl+* event is to empower girls and teach them that anything is achievable.

This year’s event will feature live demonstrations, professional athletes, and fabulous raffle prizes.
