Piedmont Education Foundation (PEF) is thrilled to announce that this year’s Spring Fling gala will be held in-person on Friday, May 6 on Magnolia, outside of the Piedmont Center for the Arts and the new PUSD theater building.
“We decided to have a block-party style event this year for several reasons,” says PEF Executive Director Heather Frank. “Piedmont has three years’ worth of elementary parents who haven’t experienced an in-person Spring Fling. We wanted to be able to share the fun with as many people as possible, as safely as possible.” Though the event hasn’t been held in town in many years, PEF was determined to find a way to do so as part of building the elementary school community while showcasing Piedmont itself.
The event will feature snacks, cocktails, a silent auction, and a set by Piedmont’s own Russell Simon, with popular bluegrass band Rusty Stringfield. “Spring Fling brings people together to share memories of the year that was, and to look forward to the year ahead, all over music, wine, and snacks,” says PEF Board Member and former Spring Fling Chair Amber Brumfiel.
PEF Advancement Officer Andrea Horvath and Operations Officer Lisa Peters have been working closely with the City, police, fire, and PUSD to get the appropriate permits, keeping safety at top of mind. The May 6 event will mark the close of the Spring Fling season. While the season was once again scaled back this year, the January camp auction was successful, there are a few parent theme parties in planning, and the PEF team is collecting great deals for the April online auction. Comings & Goings – 1st grade and 5th grade portraits – are on sale now at PiedmontSpringFling.org.
This year’s fund-a-need will support PUSD’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programming. Funds raised through Spring Fling auctions and events directly support Beach, Havens, and Wildwood elementary schools. Visit PiedmontSpringFling.org to learn more about sponsorship and volunteer opportunities.
