Some Piedmont dog and cat owners may find themselves scrambling for new pet care: On Friday, Montclair Veterinary Hospital in Montclair Village sent an email to its clients saying it was permanently closing as of April 22. The announcement gave no reason for the abrupt closure. Their website has not been updated to reflect the news.
More pets and fewer vets have been a nationwide trend over the past couple of years as pet ownership has risen and older veterinarians retire and not enough new graduates are entering the workforce. It is not clear why this practice shut down.
From the email:

Unfortunately, my requests for pet records at Montclair Vet have gone unanswered even though I followed the instructions given. How do I find out who the owner of that vet service is?
I haven’t received records yet either. Per this article they have to be provided within 5 days, but they don’t say who to contact if they aren’t. https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/Pet-owners-animals-in-pain-as-corporate-cost-17128992.php
