Future of 801 Magnolia on Monday’s City Council agenda

The Piedmont Center for the Arts' lease with the city expired in June 2021

How best to use the city-owned building at 801 Magnolia Ave. — a facility across from Piedmont High School currently used primarily by the Piedmont Center for the Arts (PCA) — will be a topic of discussion at Monday’s City Council meeting. In April 2021, the Council opted not to approve a proposed new seven-year lease agreement with the PCA, and instead asked city staff to come back with a proposal that would give the city more control over the Magnolia Avenue venue than even a proposed updated lease agreement would.

According to a City email on March 2, on March 7 the Council will be considering a use agreement for the facility which “provides time for the Piedmont Center for the Arts, significant use for City programs, and makes the space available for rental to community organizations.”

Community members are invited to attend the 7 p.m. meeting virtually via Zoom or by coming to the City Council chambers. You can find meeting details including the Zoom link HERE.
