5th grade Junior Girl Scout troop uses cookie funds for charitable causes

We are 5th grade Junior Girl Scouts and we have been together since 1st grade. Each year, we use cookie funds to go on adventures like camping or horseback riding and we choose a cause to donate to like the animal victims of the Australian wildfires or the East Bay SPCA. The SPCA even invited us to their building to learn about the SPCA, build cat toys and pet some kittens.

This past year, we made lunches for women and children in transitional housing, adopted a storm drain and helped clean the bay. We are currently working on a program to help Wildwood reduce its lunchtime carbon footprint by teaching kids what goes into recycling and what goes into compost and why.

What I like about girl scouts: I can be with my friends-I can help sell cookies-I can help contribute to make the world a better place

Juliette Edesses, Junior Girl Scout
