From a City alert on Jan. 14:
Beginning on Monday, January 17 and continuing through Friday, January 28, utility work will be conducted on Magnolia Avenue between Hillside and Highland Avenues in front of Piedmont High School, Millennium High School, Piedmont Middle School and the Piedmont Recreation Department. This work will include digging and boring in the streets and sidewalks.
The work will be conducted from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays, and there will be a break in the work daily from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to accommodate students departing at the end of the school day.
This area has high volumes of traffic, and we strongly recommend that vehicle traffic be avoided in the area if possible. In addition, if you must travel through this area, please exercise extreme caution.
The City realizes that this utility work in such a highly congested area adjacent to schools is not ideal. Originally planned for late 2021, the work has been delayed to avoid conflicts in the area, including the School District’s ongoing construction, but unfortunately, it must be completed at this time.
The City is coordinating with the utility contractor and the Piedmont Unified School District to minimize the impact on Piedmonters, and we appreciate your patience and understanding. Questions regarding the work can be directed to Juan Carlos DeZubiria at (408) 690-5816 or jc@p3com.net.
