For over 50 years, the Piedmont Scouts has run the Scout Tree Lot. Run by community volunteers, the Tree Lot also serves as a major fundraiser to support the local Piedmont Scouts, a youth program with over 1,000 young participants. Last year the Scouts offered online ordering only due to the pandemic and social distancing requirements. This year, sales were offered online and in-person. (Hot tip: Word from the lot on Friday night from former Venture Crew member Sierra Yeh was that the Scouts received 300 new trees on Thursday — 200 Douglas Firs at 6′ – 7′ and 100 Nobles at 5′ – 6′.)
Our photographer stopped by on a Thursday afternoon — a less frenetic scene than the weekends — but still a hive of activity.
