One more bout of rain is forecast for the week ahead, then sunny, moistly clear skies through the New Year, according to the National Weather Service.
The chance of precipitation this evening is 80 percent, with more rain likely Wednesday through around 4 p.m, and a slight chance of a wet Wednesday evening, the weather service reported. Skies should clear Thursday through the end of the week, with daytime highs of around 49 degrees Thursday and around 50 degrees Friday.
Anyone making travel plans for the Tahoe region can expect periods of snow and snow showers to return from late tonight through Wednesday evening, the weather service reported. That means additional travel impacts and delays, primarily in the Sierra, forecasters said. Even colder air is expected for the end of the week into the New Year’s weekend.
“People traveling to the Sierra ski areas should prepare for very cold wind chills,” according to the weather service.
