Ratified Appointment of Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – The District is pleased to recommend Dr. Marguerite Vanden Wyngaard as theDirector of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Piedmont Unified SchoolDistrict. Approved Tentative Agreement between the California School Employees Association and Piedmont USD and Approve AB 1200 – PUSD and CSEA reached a Tentative Agreement regarding Salaries and Health & Welfare benefits. Read full background.
Approved the School Plans for Student Achievement for Piedmont Middle School, Millennium High School, and Piedmont High School – The California Education Code requires the school site council to develop a School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). The purpose of the SPSA is to create a cycle of continuous improvement of student performance and to ensure that all students succeed in reaching academic standards set by the State Board of Education.The School Plan for Student Achievement is developed with the input of all Site Council stakeholders and reflects the current educational needs of students. Principal Ryan Fletcher (Piedmont Middle School), Principal Shannon Fierro (Millennium High School), and Principal Adam Littlefield (Piedmont High School) will present their progress on the SPSA from 2020-21 and the new actions aligned to the goals for 2021-22. Approved Second Reading, Approve and Adopt Educator Effectiveness Block Grant – The Educator Effectiveness Block Grant is state funding provided for school districts to be used for professional learning for teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals that work with pupils, and classified staff that interact with pupils. Educator Effectiveness funds may be used to support the professional learning for certificated teachers, administrators, paraprofessional educators, and certificated staff. Read full background.
Approved a Positive Certification of the 2021-22 First Interim Financial Report – The First Interim Report for Fiscal Year 2021-22 provides an update of actual expenditures and revenues through October 31, 2021, and a projection of the budget adjustments necessary to get to the end of the fiscal year. The First Interim also includes a multiyear projection (MYP) to serve as an early warning system about the direction of the District’s spending over the following two years. See full presentation. Conducted Reorganization of the Board of Education Pursuant to Education Code 42632 and 42633 – The Board unanimously elected Cory Smegal as Board President, Megan Pillsbury as Board Vice President, and Superintendent Randall Booker as Board Secretary to serve from December 2021 through December 2022.
Reviewed and Discussed Board Liaison Committee Assignments – The Board agreed to submit any committees they were interested in serving on, or were willing to give up their current slot to another Trustee, and will discuss at its next meeting January 12. List of current assignments.
Approved Resolution 16-2021-22 – Authorization of Assignment Out of Credentialed Area – Resolution allows for educators to teach outside of their credentialed area.
