On Nov. 5, Dress Best for Less presented PEF with a check for $50,000 to be used in support of Piedmont’s public schools.

The check was presented by DBFL president and liaison to the PEF board, Linda Smith Munyan, to PEF Board Chair Nicki Gilbert and PEF Executive Director Heather Frank.

After the challenges of opening our new Piedmont Avenue store during the pandemic and having to close our Marking Room retail operation, I am thankful for the hard work, creativity, and dedication of our DBFL team and incredibly proud of our ability to continue supporting PEF and their mission of creating a well-rounded educational experience for all Piedmont students,” Smith Munyan said.

“The DBFL team works so hard and with such commitment. They make a huge impact on our schools and are an important part of the Piedmont community,” Frank said. “We appreciate their ability to support the work of PEF in strengthening our schools.”

DBFL is the largest donor to PEF, with more than $1 million donated in the last 39 years.

About Dress Best For Less (DBFL)

Formed in 1982 by a group of forward-thinking Piedmont parents who decided to support the schools by collecting donated household items and clothing to sell to the community, the group was given an unused room at Havens School and grew quickly to form a successful nonprofit, Dress Best for Less. With a storefront on Piedmont Avenue and a donation center on Magnolia Ave across from PHS, DBFL offers affordable fine vintage and gently used clothing for the whole family as well as home decor. Residents can support DBFL by donating quality items at the Marking Room at 799 Magnolia Ave and by shopping at 4020 Piedmont Avenue.

About the Piedmont Education Foundation (PEF)

PEF is dedicated to supporting comprehensive programs at all Piedmont public schools. PEF grants more than $2.7 million annually to the Piedmont Unified School District, is the steward for an endowment valued at over $9 million and actively engages the community on behalf of the schools. 1. This donation is a reflection of dedicated volunteers and more importantly our wonderful community of donors! They have rallied in a big way to make appointments and deal with challenging parking to get their stuff to DBFL so we can turn it into $$$$ for Piedmont schools!
