Who’s that Good Dog?

Gracie with Hazel and Murray

Family: Dave Schaeffer, Dana Murray, and kids Hazel and Murray

Pet: Gracie

Age: 14

Breed: Labrador Retriever

Adoption story: My (Dana’s) parents had Gracie’s grandma (Ruby) and her uncle (Brit). Ruby had a litter of puppies and one of her puppies had a litter of puppies and we were lucky enough to adopt one of them — Gracie. She was on a farm in the Carmel Valley and her nickname was Big Girl. As soon as we met her, we knew she was ours.

Likes: Food, treats, belly rubs, walks, being surrounded by family and friends (she loves to be in the middle of the chaos), and more treats!

Dislikes: When the groomer comes, when we leave her home alone, and broccoli.

Interesting facts: Glenbrook Nevada in Lake Tahoe is her all time favorite place in the entire word! In her younger years she would swim in the lake for hours and chase us on the paddle board.

Anything else? From day one Gracie has never needed to be on a leash. She helped raise Hazel and Murray. When they were babies and would cry, she would rush to their side and nuzzle them so they would stop crying.
